To all Dance Enthisaists:
As many have come to realize, Vancouver has become one of the hotest scenes in Canada for dance where new works
will be unveiled, performed and reviewed across the various stage venues . It is the realization for
many established choerographers and the beginning of new emerging careers. For dancers the
goal consists of hard work and perseverance. Hours of dedication is fraught with highs and lows, but
it is the end result that brings the finest reward. To Dance!
Already in Vancouver over the past few months we have seen the fresh "Heart As an Arena"
by Dana Gringas' Animals of Distiction. Scotiabank Dance Centre presentation of 10
X 10 ", The Vancouver Fringe Festival, The International Dance
Festival, The Response , "Dance Portraits and Female Creatures", "West
Side Story", "Romeo & Juliet", Ballet BC and Alberta
Ballet 's "Love lies Bleeding", and the upcoming "Bliss", "The
Noon Dance Series" and so much more.
Strap on your musical genuis for "Rock
of Ages", "Swan Lake", by the Michailovsky Ballet, "Mary Poppins"
in July at the Queen Elizabeth, the return of Cirque du Soliel's "IMMORTAL" tour featuring
the music of Michael Jackson In August , and gear up for the fabulous Dancing on the Edge Festival
comes this July.
Some of our very own BC Dance Companies and Performing Artists will
be performing at the critically acclaimed Canada Dance Festival in Ottawa,( idd Pivot, Raven Spirit Dancers, The 605 Collective,
and former Dana Gringas Animals of Distinction), Festival Amerique in Montreal and Impulse Dance in Vienna.
To dance is to live and to live is to dance. Bravo
to those who take the challenge. We love to come along for the ride. Until next time.
